The Arena

Indoor soccer is played on turf laid over a hockey-rink footprint inside PPL Center. The field is roughly 200 by 85 feet, so every seat in the house sits right on top of the action.

The Walls Are in Play

There are no sidelines and no throw-ins. The ball caroms off the dasher boards, so play almost never stops. Bank passes and rebounds are legitimate weapons.

Four Quarters

Games run four 15-minute quarters with a stopped clock. When the whistle blows, the clock stops. No mysterious added time, no wondering when it actually ends.

Six a Side

Each team fields six players, goalkeeper included. Fewer bodies on a smaller field means more touches, more one-v-ones, and nowhere to hide.

Outdoor: 11 v 11
Indoor: 6 v 6, keeper included

Subs on the Fly

Substitutions happen hockey-style, on the fly, without waiting for a stoppage. Shifts are short and flat-out. Sprint hard, swap fresh, repeat.

Outdoor: Limited subs, stoppages only
Indoor: Unlimited, rolling all game

Blue Cards & Power Plays

Along with yellow and red, indoor has the blue card: two minutes in the penalty box while your team plays a man down. Power plays swing games.

Outdoor: Yellow and red cards only
Indoor: Blue card = 2-minute power play

Goals. Lots of Goals.

All of that adds up to relentless scoring. MASL games routinely produce double-digit combined goals. Blink and you will miss one.

Outdoor: 1–3 goals on a good night
Indoor: Double digits, most nights
