Spirits Sign All-Star Midfielder David Ortiz
Former Texas Captain and U.S. National Futsal Member Joins Lehigh Valley
Allentown, PA – The Lehigh Valley Spirits have signed 2025 MASL All-Star midfielder David Ortiz ahead of the club’s upcoming inaugural season.
Ortiz, 26, adds proven offensive production and experienced leadership to Lehigh Valley’s roster. A five-year MASL league veteran, Ortiz has totaled 73 points on 38 goals and 35 assists across 78 career regular-season appearances, while averaging at least one point per game in each of his last three seasons.
The McKinney, Texas native began his professional indoor career in his home state, spending two seasons with the Dallas Sidekicks from 2021-2022 before joining the Texas Outlaws for the following three campaigns from 2022-2025.
While with the Outlaws, Ortiz became a key figure, serving as team captain while consistently contributing at both ends of the field. Following a standout career-high performance during the 2023-24 season (15G-16A-31PTS), he later earned the opportunity to represent Texas at the 2025 MASL All-Star Game.
After initially signing with the Chihuahua Savage before the club suspended operations last season, Ortiz played with Los Aliens FC of Kings League Mexico, where he scored five goals and two assists in 11 games.
Before entering the MASL, Ortiz developed with the FC Dallas Academy and began playing futsal as a youth with City Futsal in Dallas. After competing at McKinney Boyd High School during his sophomore and junior years, he turned professional as a high school senior and joined Spanish club CD Guijuelo.
Ortiz also spent time with Colombian First Division side Envigado FC before returning to Texas and beginning his MASL career with Dallas in 2021.
On the international stage, he represented the United States at the 2021 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Lithuania. He made his U.S. National Futsal Team debut on September 4, 2021, against Slovakia.
